Description
Aztec Jaguar / Eagle warriors are professional soldiers, nobles trained to fight in battle for the city state of Tenochtitlan and the Aztec king. Aztec soldiers wear colourful displays in order to draw attention to themselves and have their deeds in battle be seen. The more extravagant the display, the higher ranked and wealthier the soldier. The Jaguar warriors wear jaguar pelts, and the eagle warriors wear eagle-shaped headdresses. They are the peak of the Aztec army. The Aztecs have conquered many other city states and territories, establishing a large tribute network, dominating central Mexico. The capital city of Tenochtitlan has grown wealthy and advanced as a result of this tribute, becoming a rich floating city in the middle of a lake.
The Aztec king is seen as semi-divine. Aztecs believe in the Aztec Pantheon, and follow the gods Quetzalcoatl and Huitzilopochtli, among others. Aztecs are known to sacrifice large numbers of people to their gods, mostly captured enemy warriors. Aztecs believe that if they stop sacrificing humans, (offering human souls and blood) the sun will run out of energy and go dark, ending the world.
