Magic Resistance. The baku has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Innate Spellcasting (Psionics). The baku is a 5th-level spellcaster. Its spellcasting ability is Intelligence (spell save DC 17). It can innately cast the following spells, requiring no components:
At will: Alter Self, Detect Evil and Good, Detect Thoughts, Invisibility
1/day each: Astral Projection (self only)
Multiattack. The baku makes one gore attack with its tusks, and two stomp attacks.
Gore. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 18 (3d6 + 6) piercing damage.
Stomp. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, range 5 ft., one target. Hit: 14 (2d6 + 6) bludgeoning damage. If the target is Medium or smaller, it must make a DC Dexterity saving throw or be knocked prone.
Trumpeting Roar (Recharge 5-6): The baku thunders a psychic condemnation in a 60-foot sphere. Each creature in that area must succeed on a DC 17 Charisma saving throw or take 4d6 psychic damage and be frightened of the baku until the end of its next turn.
Only evil and good creatures are affected by the roar; any neutral creatures are unaffected.
Description
A baku looks like a strange elephant with a lizard's tail. It has an elephantine head, complete with trunk, but its trunk is rarely longer than four feet. (Baku traditionally regard longer trunks as indicators of high ability, but this is only superstition.) Two curving trunks jut upward from the creature's lower jaws. The front feet look like an elephant's, but the rear feet have leonine pads equipped with claws. Dragonlike scales cover a baku's back and thick tail: on male baku, the scales continue over the back of the head. The rest of the hide is rhino-tough.
Baku come from the Outlands, though they can often be found in certain regions of the Prime Material Plane, often traveling among humanity in disguise. They often take up roles in their lives as wise figures, who many in their community will come to for spiritual guidance.
