Abhorrent Presence: Natural animals will not approach the Blighted of their own volition. Coaxing an animal to come within 10 feet of a Blighted requires a DC 15 Animal Handling check.
Life Sense. The Blighted can sense the location of any creature within 60 feet of it, unless that creature’s type is construct or undead.
Relentless Fortitude. If damage reduces the Blighted to 0 hit points, it must make a Constitution saving throw with a DC of 5 + the damage taken, unless the damage is radiant or from a critical hit. On a success, the spawn drops to 1 hit point instead.
Multiattack. The Flagellant makes two tentacle attacks.
Tentacles. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (2d6 + 2) slashing damage. A target struck by both tentacle attacks is considered grappled, requiring a DC 13 Strength check to escape. Each round they are grappled, they must make a DC 13 Constitution Saving Throw or become infected with the Blight.
The Blight. An infected creature becomes incapacitated for three rounds as they begin their transformation into a Blight Spawn. During this time, the creature can be healed with a lesser restoration spell. At the beginning of the fourth round, the transformation is complete and the victim has become one of the Blighted. At this point a greater restoration spell is required to restore them to their normal state.
Description
“After the crows came, we thought things couldn't get much worse. We were wrong.” –Farmer Zebadiah Dhurtt
Spread through various means such as a Blight Crow Swarm, the extra-dimensional force known as the Blight changes its victims in body and mind. Known as the Blighted, infected beings become near-mindless monsters who exist only to spread the curse of the Blight. Floating above the ground, the victim's body withers while sprouting tumorous growths. Their entrails become ropy tendrils that burst through their torso and flail about in search of others to infect. The victim's head lolls to one side, wide, unblinking eyes literally aglow with transcendent horror as they endlessly recite litanies of madness.
Lore: The Blight is an ultra-cosmic plague that seeps through cracks in the planar walls, corrupting everything in its path. There is much speculation as to the Blight's true nature. Some claim it is a "divine putrescence" leaking from the corpse of a dead god. Others believe it is a doomsday weapon unleashed by a long dead race. The worshippers of Atropos, Goddess of Entropy, claim it is her will made manifest. What is known is that it acts like a true plague, spreading across space and time as it transforms the living into avatars of madness (Arcana check DC 19).
