Distant Effect. Akin to the vocal effects of the Thaumaturgy cantrip, the babirb can alter its vocalizationd in the following ways

Magic Resistance. The babirb has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 4 (1d4 + 2) [piercing] damage.
Heckle. (3/Day). When a creature that the babirb can see within 60 feet makes an attack roll, ability check, or damage roll, the babirb can use it's reaction to roll 1d4 and subtract that resulting number from the creature's roll.
Description
Profane Tricksters. Resembling an oddly colorful rodent with a parrot-like beak and head, the Babirb is a master of mimicry and distant effect, capable copying voices and throwing their voice a great distance. Unfortunately, they love this feature even more than their own voice, and will babble on in cacophonies of repurposed sounds and notes; this isn’t helped by their particular penchant for profanity.
Communities of these mischievous fey often live together in complex burrow systems with multiple surface entrances, from which they will play pranks on passersby who wander over their homes. A particular favorite of these mischievous burrowers is to throw insults from various directions, with hopes of tricking trespassers into pursuing false agitators through the forests.
Babbling Protectors. Their independence and adaptability make them ideal guards for hidden caches of Feywild secrets. Some Archfey even use them as a security measure for isolated Feywild portals in the Material Plane, using trickery to mislead potential invaders and fey hunters. This is a practice adopted even by secretive warlocks and wizards, some going as far as to invite entire colonies to live around their secluded studies and homes. Successful mages who live with such a colony swear by them, even at the cost of an occasional sleepless night under a cacophony of profanity.
Talkative Companions. Regardless of their verbose vocab and mischievous streak, their charming and unique nature makes them a common familiar for the magically inclined. They are particularly loved by bards and other performers for the unique applications of their miomicry. However, on the road their abilities take on an entirely different function, able to serve as scouts, spies, and even saboteurs. Some babirbs familiars take this a step further, using their skills in distant effect to startle adversaries mid-act, saving companions from death by seconds.
