Turn Resistance. Atreus has advantage on saving throws against any effect that turns undead.
Reaping Presence. When Atreus hits a creature with his mace, Nex, he gains a soul fragment. Soul fragments decay by 2 at the start of Atreus' turn. He may store a total of 5 fragments at a time. While he has 3 or more, the power of his enslaved souls pour out of his body, dealing 9 (2d8) force damage to any creature that is not undead at the start of their turn.
Paralyzing Touch. Melee Spell Attack: +12 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 10 (3d6) cold damage. The target must succeed on a DC 18 Constitution saving throw or be paralyzed for 1 minute. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.
Nex. Melee Attack: +12 to hit, 10 foot cone. Hit: 10 (3d6) magic bludgeoning damage. For every target hit, gain 1 soul fragment.
The lich can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. The lich regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.
Cantrip. Atreus casts a cantrip.
Nex . Atreus swings his mace, Nex.
Frightening Gaze (Costs 2 Actions). Atreus fixes its gaze on one creature it can see within 10 feet of it. The target must succeed on a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw against this magic or become frightened for 1 minute. The frightened target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a target's saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the target is immune to the lich's gaze for the next 24 hours.
Disrupt Life (Costs 3 Actions). Each non-undead creature within 20 feet of Atreus must make a DC 18 Constitution saving throw against this magic, taking 21 (6d6) necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
Atreus can take a mythic action when his current vessel reaches 0 HP, or as an action during his turn while Reaping Presence is active. Using a mythic action consumes all soul fragments.
Cursed Body. Atreus may use an action during his turn to transfer his soul into a vessel within 500 feet. Vessels are large suits of armor, constructed from a special metal known as soul iron. These vessels must be made specially for Atreus' use. When he takes over a vessel, he will adopt the stats of the particular body made for him.
Lair and Lair Actions
The Tower of the Aether
Atreus, in his hubris, has created a tower that he believes gives him the power of the Gods. It acts as a soul pylon, allowing Atreus to store excess soul fragments, as well as a mean to channel the power he has stored, to exact devastating attacks to change the tide of battle.
Physically, the tower is a 6 foot diameter, 20 foot tall tower made of soul-infused iron. At the top, it is adorned with a soul-imbued crystal that acts as its source of power. It is commonly carried around in an iron cart, carried by a giant spectral horse. It has an AC of 20 and an HP of 750, and all of its soul fragments are lost if it is destroyed.
The Tower of the Aether absorbs the souls from creatures who die within 1000 feet of it. For each creature that dies, the tower gains 1 soul fragment. Additionally, if Atreus exceeds his maximum amount of soul fragments, the excess is stored in the tower.
Tipping the Scales
Atreus may use any of the following abilities as a bonus action on his turn, consuming the designated amount soul fragments:
- Soul Bolt. (10 soul fragments) Atreus slams the ground with the pommel of his mace, sending a homing bolt of soul energy at a target of his choice. The target must make a DC 18 dexterity saving throw, or take 18 (4d8) damage.
- Zone of Vigor. (25 soul fragments) Atreus raises his mace, letting loose a rallying cry to his minions. He then summons a magical circle that invigorates his soldiers, surrounding a minion of his choice. The circle has a 50 foot radius, and while undead are in the zone, they gain temporary HP equal to 1/2 their maximum HP (rounded down) and gain +5 to hit and +2 to damage.
- Death Sentence. (50 soul fragments) Atreus points his mace at a target, and 4 ethereal chains erupt out of the Tower of the Aether. The target must make a DC 20 saving throw or be chained. When a player is chained they are unable to move and are pulled towards the tower at the start of their turn 30 feet per turn. They can escape the chains by breaking the shackles chaining their arms and legs. They must break all 4 shackles in order to be released. Note that AOE spells and class features can break all 4 chains, but they must be attacked at the shackles attached to the person.
