Traits

Antimagic Susceptibility. The ropeis incapacitated while in the area of an antimagic field. If targeted by dispel magic, the rope must succeed on a Constitution saving throw against the caster's spell save DC or fall unconscious for 1 minute.

False Appearance. While the rope remains motionless, it is indistinguishable from a normal length of rope.

Hempen Rope. Unless otherwise specified, the rope is semi-coiled up into the space of a 5 ft. square, and does not block or impede any other creatures moving through it's space. Additionally, if a creature successfully grapples the rope, they can attempt to tear it with a DC 17 Strength check as a bonus action.

Actions

The rope only has available actions taught to it by it's owner, or ones the DM decides it has learned if it is wild. These can include, but are not limited to;

Knot. As a bonus action, the rope can tie any part of itself into any knot that it has been taught. If the knot extends over a length beyond 5 ft. the rope must use movement appropriate to the size of the knot.

Restrain/Trip. As an action, the rope can attempt to embrace and impede a creature. The rope and the target creature makes an opposed grapple check, and upon a successful grapple, the rope can also either make the target restrained or make the target fall prone.

Distract. As an action, the rope can interfere with a target creature, either imposing disadvantage on the target's next attack roll or grant advantage to the next attack roll against the target until the start of the rope's next turn.

Impede. As an action, the rope can stretch itself out across a number of consecutive squares up to as many as it movement allows, and spends it's turn actively hindering hostile creatures. All squares the rope occupies are considered difficult terrain for hostile creatures that are Medium or smaller.

Whip. Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 1 bludgeoning damage.

Description

This 50 ft. hempen rope is near identical to most other standard hempen ropes, except for that it is imbued with locomotion and an arcane sentience and akin to a (initially untrained) loyal dog.
