Traits

Lich's Sight. As an action, the bonescryer's creator can see through the bonescryer's eyes and hear through the bonescryer's ears for an indefinite amount of not, even if they are on different planes of existence.

Rampage. When the bonescryer reduces a creature to 0 hit points with a melee attack, the bonescryer can take a bonus action to move up to half its speed and make a bite attack.

Rejuvenation. If its creator is alive, a destroyed bonescryer regains a new body in 1d4 days, regaining all its hit points and becoming active again. The new body appears in the location it was destroyed.

Relentless Tracker. The bonescryer knows the distance to and direction of any creatures chosen by its creator, even if the creatures and the bonescryer are on different planes of existence. If a creature being tracked by the bonescryer dies, the bonescryer knows.

Actions

Multiattack. The bonescryer makes three bite attacks.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 12 (3d6 + 2) piercing damage. If the target is a creature that the bonescryer is tracking, the target takes an extra 10 (3d6) necrotic damage and it must succeed on a DC 14 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.

Paralyzing Glare. The bonescryer targets one creature it is tracking that the bonescryer can see within 30 feet of it. The target must make a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw. On a failure, the target is paralyzed until the bonescryer deals damage to it, or until the end of the bonescryer's next turn. When the paralysis ends, the target is frightened of the bonescryer for 1 minute. The frightened target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, with disadvantage if it can see the bonescryer, ending the frightened condition on itself on a success.

Description

In the dark recesses of an abandoned and desecrated temple, a withered and wronged lich is bent over a ritual circle, piling bones and chanting incantations. The faint light of the candles flickers and dims. With one final command, a blast of necrotic energy envelopes the room in darkness. As the lights return, the lich's newest creation is revealed: a skeletal hound, its eye sockets alight with green flame and tar-like drool dripping from its jaw. The lich whispers a faint name, and at once, the bonescryer leaves, ready to pursue its target to the ends of the multiverse.

Lich's Best Friend. A bonescryer is the constructed familiar of a particularly vengeful lich. Forged from the bones of dog and man alike, the bonescryer serves as a faithful minion to its creator. Without a conscience or shred of free will, the bonescryer serves its creator until the lich's demise. Even if the bonescryer is slain or destroyed, as long as the lich's phylactery is safe and secure, the beast will return to life (if it can be referred to as life), and continue its sole purpose: to hunt down its targets.

Undying Tracker. Upon the bonescryer's summoning, its creator speaks the names of those who have wronged them and sends the bonescryer on its quest to destroy them. While the bonescryer is active, it knows the locations of its targets no matter where they may be. The targets can attempt to fight back, but slaying the monster will only slow it down before it continues its relentless hunt. The only way to destroy a bonescryer for good is to kill the lich that brought the beast into creation.

Undead Nature. A bonescryer doesn't require air, food, drink, or sleep.
