Jack of All Trades. The Apprentice Bard can add half the proficiency bonus (rounded down) to any ability check that doesn't already include a proficiency bonus.
Song of Rest. During a short rest, the Apprentice Bard can use soothing music to heal allies. Any creatures that can hear you perform regain and extra (1d6) hit points at the end of the short rest.
Spellcasting. The Apprentice Bard is a 2nd-level spellcaster. Its spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 13, +5 to hit with spell attacks). The Apprentice Bard has following bard spells prepared:
Cantrips (at will): Dancing Lights, Vicious Mockery
1st level (3 slots): Charm Person, Detect Magic, Healing Word, Thunderwave, Sleep
Bardic Inspiration. As a bonus action, the Apprentice Bard can inspires allies through words and music. The targeted creature must be within 60 ft. of it and must be able to hear it. That creature gains one Bardic Inspiration Die (1d6) . When that creature makes an ability check, attack roll, or saving throw, it can roll the Bardic Inspiration Die and add the dice roll to the ability check, attack roll, or saving throw. Once the Bardic Inspiration Die is used, it is lost. A creature can have one Bardic Inspiration Die at a time. This action can be used 3 times per long rest.
Rapier. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 7 (1d8 + 3) piercing damage.
Dagger. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 5(1d4 + 3) piercing damage. Thrown Range: 20/60 ft.
Hand Crossbow. Ranged Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, range 30/120 ft., 1 target. Hit: 6(1d6 + 3) piercing damage.
Description
The Apprentice Bard is a young bard-in-training. They are scholars and musicians who are learning how to harness the power of their music and poetry. Bards use words and songs to heal the wounded, and manipulate the minds, bodies, and spirits of others. Even though their music and magic is their primary ability, bards are skilled in melee combat, and will fight directly when they have to.
