Inextinguishable Light These souls are completely unkillable, even on their home plane, but can be temporarily destroyed. If this happens, they are reformed in whatever upper plane they belong on in 1d8 days
Holy Spellcasting. The Lantern Archon can cast magic from its divine self. Its spellcasting ability is wisdom (spell save DC 10, +2 to hit with spell attacks). The Archon can cast:
Cantrips (at will): Sacred Flame and Spare The Dying
1/day: Cure wounds (First level)
As the formless being it is, the lantern archon can't deal damage in any way other than through Sacred Flame
Description
Many people know of the fate that stands before those of evil alignment. Most infamous among these potential fates are the Manes and the Lemures. But what awaits the souls of the good? The compassionate? The generous? They are presented with two choices in death: Enjoy the paradise of their new home plane or to bear the burdens they might've held in life. Those who lived humble lives often choose paradise, but some choose to fight for this newfound paradise. They become the "grunts" of celestial armies known as Lantern Archons. These beings are made of pure light and can appear in different forms, including humanoid and completely disembodied light
Ascension Those who lived heroic lives before coming to death often are allowed by the powers of the upper planes to skip the lantern stage completely, becoming a more powerful variety of angel. For the lantern archons, however, this must be earned through virtuous acts and dedication to their duties. After this has been displayed to their superiors, they are offered greater power. If accepted, they are often ascended into one of three paths: The Path Of The Seven Heavens, The Path Of Everlasting Joy and The Path Of The Glades, corresponding to Lawful Good, Neutral Good and Chaotic Good. This path is determined by their alignment in life. The nest step up in each path can sometimes be skipped, but generally they are only taken up one step at a time. The first step in the Path Of The Seven Heavens is the Holy Knight (which is different from a paladin; might change this later). The first step up in the Path Of Everlasting Joy is the Benevolent Explorer. The first step up in the Path Of The Glades is completely random, being of a plane of Chaos, but is generally humanoid much like the other two.
