Undead senses. The zombie lord can see and hear through any zombie within one mile of it.

Odor of Death. The zombie lords odor is toxic to any that tread to close. Any creature that starts its turn within 5 feet of the zombie lord must make a DC 13 Constitution saving throw or be poisoned until the end of the creatures next turn. On a successful save, the creature is immune to the odor for 1hr.

Actions

Multiattack. The zombie lord makes two slam attacks.

Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 9(2d6 + 2) bludgeoning damage.

Animate Dead (1/Day). The zombie lord casts animate dead as a 3rd level spell. This spell functions as normal except it may be used against a living being. Any creature targeted by this spell must make a DC 12 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the creature is instantly slain. In 1d4 rounds the creature rises again as a zombie under the zombie lord's command.

Zombie Control. As a bonus action, the zombie lord can issue mental commands to all zombies within its sight.

Description

Zombie lords are living creatures that have taken on the foul powers and abilities of the undead. They are formed on rare occasions as the result of a Raise Dead (or similar resurrection magic) that has gone wrong.

Zombie lords look as they did in life, save that their skin has turned the pale gray of death, and the their flesh has begun to rot and decay. The odor of vile corruption and rotting meat hangs about them, and carrion-feeding insects often buzz about them to dine on the bits of flesh and beads of ichor that drop from their bodies.

Lair and Lair Actions

Zombie lords seek out places of death as lairs. Often, they choose to live in old graveyards or on the sites of tremendous battles - any place that contains many bodies to animate and feast upon.
