Traits

Rampage. When the wendigo reduces a creature to 0 hit points with a melee attack on its turn, it can take a bonus action to move up to half its speed and make a bite attack.

Blood Frenzy. The Wendigo has advantage on melee attack rolls against any creature that has taken damage.

Ambusher. In the first round of combat, the wendigo has advantage on attack rolls against any creature it surprised.

Unnatural Speed. When subjected to an effect that allows the Wendigo to make a Dexterity saving throw to take only half damage, the Wendigo may instead take no damage if it succeeds on the saving throw, and only half damage if it fails.

Regeneration. The Wendigo regains 10 hit points at the start of it's turn. If the Wendigo takes acid or fire damage, this trait doesn't function at the start of the Wendigo's next turn. The Wendigo only dies if it starts it's turn with 0 hit points and doesn't regenerate.

Mimicry. The wendigo can mimic animal sounds and humanoid voices. A creature that hears the sounds can tell they are imitations with a contested Wisdom (Insight) check versus the Wendigo's deception check.

Actions

Multiattack. The Wendigo makes three attacks: one with its bite and two with its claws.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +12 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 19 (2d6+12) piercing damage plus 27 (4d8+10) necrotic damage. The wendigo heals for same amount of necrotic damage.

Claw. Melee Weapon Attack:+12 to hit, reach 10 ft., one creature. Hit: 14(1d6+ 12) slashing damage.

Misty Step. As a bonus action, the Wendigo can teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space it can see.

Legendary Actions

The Wendigo can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. The Wendigo regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.

Bloodscent. The Wendigo uses an action to gauge the overall health of opponents within 60 feet.

Misty Step. The Wendigo uses it's Misty Step ability to teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space.

Bloodlust. (Costs 2 actions) The Wendigo moves up to it's speed and make a bite attack against an opponent that has been previously wounded.

Description

The Wendigo is tall, standing between 12 and 15 feet tall, however it is gaunt to the point of emaciation. The ribs and other bones push out against it's skin which is the ash grey of death and spattered with gore. The creature's lips are usually in bloody tatters, revealing sharpened fangs beneath.

Born of Hunger and Greed. There are different stories on how these cursed creatures are created. Many believe that they are born of humanoid creature's who have resorted to cannibalism and were possessed by dark or fiendish spirits. Others believe that they are a manifestation of avarice for wealth and material belongings. However they come to be, a Wendigo's hunger is unceasing and insatiable, never able to be abated regardless of how much they consume.

Cunning Hunters. Wendigo are crafty and intelligent hunters. They are able to mimic the sounds of other humanoids or even animals and use this to lure potential victims to their dooms or to separate a party. In addition to this mimicry, Wendigo seem to have an uncanny ability to scent blood in the air akin to a shark in the ocean.
