Traits

Plant Camouflage. The Dragon has advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks it makes in any terrain with ample obscuring plant life.

Regeneration. The Dragon regains 5 hit points at the start of its turn. If it takes cold, fire, or necrotic damage, this trait doesn’t function at the start of the Dragon next turn. The Dragon dies only if it starts its turn with 0 hit points and doesn’t regenerate.

Actions

Multiattack. The Dragon makes one attack with its claws and one melee attack with its bite.

Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d6 + 2) slashing damage.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit:  6 (1d8 + 2) piercing damage if used with two hands to make a melee attack.

Spores (1/Day). A 15-foot-radius cloud of spores extends out from the Dragon. The spores spread around corners. Each creature in that area that isn’t a plant must succeed on a DC 12 Constitution saving throw or be poisoned. While poisoned in this way, a target is affected as if under the effects of the calm emotions spell and becomes indifferent to the dragon for a minute. A target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

Description

Bolete dragons are myconids infused with draconic essence and they can be found in almost all forests and swamps.

Most of their time is spent half buried in soft soil absorbing nutrients and waiting for prey to come along. Bolete dragons cannot produce young unless they eat a substantial meal and their drive to do so makes them aggressive against anything that appears like an easy meal.

Once sated the dragon finds a sturdy tree to release special spores that attach to the tree and for a while they absorb nutrients from it until the young dragon's cap is developed and their eyes and mouths open for the first time. Bolete dragonlings are immobile as their legs have not grown yet and their parent dragon fiercely guards them until they can move on their own.
