Never Alone. The Black Eyed Children always appear in pairs. Whether or not these two figures are actually a single entity is unknown.
Rules of the Dead. The Black Eyed Children cannot enter a dwelling unless they have been invited in. This rule also applies to vehicles and owned land. They do not always ask directly, and instead ask for help or speak quietly so that their victim will ask them to come closer.
Unnerving Presence. Being close to a Black Eyed Child causes one to feel anything from slight anxiety to heart-stopping terror. Anyone who can see a Black Eyed Child must succeed on a WIS saving throw of 13 or become frightened. If they fail the saving throw by 5 or more, they are also paralyzed. A target that succeeds on this saving throw is immune to the Unnervingly Presence for the next 24 hours.
Multiattack. Each Black Eyed Child can make an attack on their turn. They share an initiative roll.
Child's Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (2d6 + 3) slashing damage plus 10 (3d6) necrotic damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 12 Wisdom saving throw or be cursed. The cursed target can't regain hit points, and its hit point maximum decreases by 10 (3d6) for every 24 hours that elapse. If the curse reduces the target's hit point maximum to 0, the target dies, and, if the target was under the age of 16, the body turns into a singular Black Eyed Child. The curse lasts until removed by the remove curse spell or other magic.
Soul Steal. Ranged Attack: +5 to hit, range 120ft, area 60ft radius sphere. The Blacked Eyed Children may trade their multi attack for a single Soul Steal attack. They curse an area with necrotic power that restores their own hit points. Every living thing in this space or that enters the space must succeed on a CON saving throw of 13. Those who fail take 2d8 necrotic damage or half on a success. Anyone who ends their turn in this space takes that damage again. The effect continues as long as one of the children can maintain concentration.
Description
Black-Eyed Children are creatures that take the form of a pair of young kids with pitch-black eyes. They move together, often holding hands, and trick unwary kind-hearted adults into letting them into their homes, where they can wreak havoc on the family until the living inhabitants are forced to leave.
