Traits

Bookish Personality. When the Book of Stabbing is grappled, the grappling creature can close it if it succeeds on a DC 15 Strength check, immediately incapacitating it until it is opened again.

Hardbacked. When the Book of Stabbing is closed, it immediately restores all hitpoints it has lost since being opened, except for hitpoints lost to acid or fire damage.

Wicked Knives. A creature that has been hit by the Book of Stabbing's Stab attack takes an extra 1d4 necrotic damage from blood loss for every time it has been struck at the start of each of its turns until the bleeding is stopped with a successful DC 15 Wisdom check. Creatures immune to necrotic damage or without blood are immune to this extra damage.

Independent Reading Time. If The Book of Stabbing somehow becomes disarmed, its arm retracts back into the book, closing it as it does. When closed in this manner, it remains incapacitated for 24 hours. During this time, it can be opened safely.

Actions

Multiattack. The Book of Stabbing makes 3 Stab attacks against anything within range.

Stab. Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 15 ft., 1 target. Hit: 5 (1d4 + 3) Slashing damage.

Description

The Book of Stabbing, while closed, appears to be a normal, mundane book. When opened by another creature, a long, spectral, jointless arm wielding a long, particularly vicious looking dagger pushes its way forth from its middle section. The arm swings its knife around wildly, trying to stab anything within its reach.
