Ambush Predator. The vampiric displacer beast has advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks.
Avoidance. If the vampiric displacer beast is subjected to an effect that allows it to make a saving throw to take only half damage, it instead takes no damage if it succeeds on the saving throw, and only half damage if it fails.
Displacement. The vampiric displacer beast projects a magical illusion that makes it appear to be standing near its actual location, causing attack rolls against it to have disadvantage. If it is hit by an attack, this trait is disrupted until the end of its next turn. This trait is also disrupted while the vampiric displacer beast is incapacitated or has a speed of 0.
Keen Senses. The vampiric displacer beast has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks.
Pounce. If the vampiric displacer beast moves at least 20 feet straight toward a creature and then hits it with a claw attack on the same turn, that target must succeed on a DC 19 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone. If the target is prone, the vampiric displacer beast can make one bite attack against it as a bonus action.
Multiattack. The vampiric displacer beast makes two attacks with its tentacles and one bite or claw attack.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 10 (1d6 + 7) piercing damage plus 10 (3d6) necrotic damage. The target’s hit point maximum is reduced by an amount equal to the necrotic damage taken, and the vampiric displacer beast regains hit points equal to that amount. The reduction lasts until the target finishes a long rest. The target dies if this effect reduces its hit point maximum to 0.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 21 (4d6 + 7) slashing damage.
Tentacle. Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 14 (2d6 + 7) bludgeoning damage plus 3 (1d6) piercing damage.
Feral Cunning. The vampiric displacer beast can take the Dash, Disengage, or Hide action as a bonus action.
Description
When the Seelie Court drove most of the displacer beasts out of the Feywild, a handful fled into the Shadowfell, where the necromantic energies infusing the plane twisted the creatures into even more vicious predators.
Vampiric displacer beasts are as reclusive as they are rare. They are more careful than their fey kin in hunting; it is not unusual for a vampiric displacer beast to stalk its prey for days while it waits for the ideal moment to strike, often while its prey is distracted or otherwise occupied.
