Traits

Incorporeal Movement. The archreaper can move through other creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain. It takes 5 (1d10) force damage if it ends its turn inside an object.

Innate Spellcasting. The archreaper’s innate spellcastin ability is Wisdom (spell save DC 17, +6 to hit with spell attacks). The archreaper can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components.

At will: divinationplane shiftrevivify

2/day each: blightcounterspellspirit shroud

1/day each: circle of deathcontagionharm

Turning Immunity. The archreaper is immune to features that turn undead.

Undying Purpose. When the archreaper drops to 0 hit points, instead of dying, it returns to the plane of its creation. If the archreaper is killed in such a way that prevents it from returning, it is destroyed and a currently existing reaper is promoted to an archreaper and the soul closest to the archreaper’s death shall become a new reaper when they die.

Actions

Multiattack. The archreaper makes three reaping scythe attacks.

Reaping Scythe. The avatar sweeps its spectral scythe through a creature within 5 feet of it, dealing 23 (4d8 + 7) slashing damage plus 16 (4d8) necrotic damage.

Description

The overseers of the cycle of life and death, the archreapers are known for their power over souls and the reapers. Very rarely does an archreaper find it necessary to reap a soul itself, so the dead should fear the larger, scarier looking, ghostly forms.
