Traits

Flyby. The Ancient Potoo doesn't provoke opportunity attacks when it flies out of an enemy's reach.

Keen Hearing and Sight. The Ancient Potoo has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or sight.

Camouflage. When the Ancient Potoo stays still for thirty seconds it becomes visually indistinguishable from its surroundings by means of a natural, non-magical camouflage. This effect can be maintained until the Ancient Potoo moves again.

Actions

Talons. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (2d6 + 1) slashing damage.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d6 +2) piercing damage.

Spiked Feathers. Ranged Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, range 20/120 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d8 + 2) piercing damage.

Bonus Actions

Haunting Groan. The Ancient Potoo can let out a loud, deep toned groan that causes any creature able to hear within 15ft of the Ancient Potoo to become frightened. This bonus action can only be used every other turn.

Reactions

Call of the Flock. In the beginning of the battle the Ancient Potoo will call for help, summoning two nearby Great Potoo. Once the Ancient Potoo hits half health it can use Call of the Flock once again, summoning two more Great Potoo. This does not count as an action.

Description

The Ancient Potoo are much larger and deadlier than their smaller Great Potoo and Potoo families. They reach up to 10ft in height and can have up to a 15ft wingspan, over five times the size of the Great Potoo. Having been alive for such an extreme time their evolution have allowed them to develop a perfect camouflage, letting them blend in perfectly to almost all non-man-made areas as long as they stay still. Their feathers are heavy and sharpened, allowing them to shoot them off at their prey to skewer their foes. These birds are said to be around one-hundred years old as a majority, though there have been records of these birds living for almost five-hundred years. They reside within mountains and forests primarily.
