Lucid Dreamer. The dreamer spends each of its turns sleeping and dreaming. While in this state the dreamer cannot move, take actions or reactions, has truesight out to 120ft., and may only use its Lucid Nightmare or Waking Nightmare abilities. If the dreamer takes any damage while in this state it wakes up and must spend a short rest to re-enter this state.

Spellcasting. The dreamer is an 9th-level spellcaster. Its spellcasting ability is Intelligence (spell save DC 16). The dreamer has the following wizard spells prepared:

Spells (at will): Sleep (5th Level), Dream

Actions

Lucid Nightmare. The dreamer conjures forth an image of a horrific nightmare which it's dreaming of. An illusion of a creature of CR 4 or lower is created in an unoccupied space within 30ft. As a free action on each of the dreamers turns they may command the illusion to move or perform some action. This action can only be used while the Dreamer is in its Lucid Dreamer state.

Waking Nightmare. The dreamer manifests a Lucid Nightmare to become a real creature in it's space under control of the dreamer. This creature's initiative is the same as the dreamers and may take its turn immediately after this ability is used. This action can only be used while the dreamer is in its Lucid Dreamer state.

Nightmare. The dreamer targets a sleeping creature and causes it to experience horrible, otherworldly nightmares which assault the mind and tear apart the creatures sanity. A target creature that is asleep within 30ft must succeed a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw or take 6d10 psychic damage. Damage taken in this way does not wake a sleeping creature.

Description

Dreamers of the Temple of the Black Sun are cultists which have ascended to a higher state of being after long exposure to the seeping void. These cultists are dressed in ornate hooded robes lined with elegant filigree and possess extremely gaunt features and often have facial features replaced with dripping black voids. Occasionally more ascended dreamers have limbs or features replaced with clusters of tentacles or bug-like mandibles.
