Pounce. If the baryonyx moves at least 30 feet straight toward a creature and then hits it with a claw attack on the same turn, that target must succeed on a DC 13 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone. If the target is prone, the baryonyx can make one bite attack against it as a bonus action.
Tame. For their action, the player can roll a d20. If they get 15 or higher, the baryonyx is tamed. The tamed baryonyx’ a stats are lowered by 5.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 24 (2d10 + 4) piercing damage.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 14 (1d10 + 4) slashing damage.
Tail. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 20 ft., two targets. Hit: 10 (1d8 + 3) bludgeoning damage.
Dodge. If an attack on the baryonyx hits, roll a d20. If 15 or higher, the attack reflects and deals double damage to the attacker. If 6 or higher, the attack does nothing. If it rolls 5 or lower, deal an additional 5 hit points as well to the baryonyx.
Description
The baryonyx is a predatory dinosaur of great size, strength, and speed. It lives in swamps and sometimes in costal areas. It has wicked claws and teeth that can cut through most light armour and some chainmail.
Lair and Lair Actions
You’ll know you’re in a baryonyx lair by seeing the abundance of fish bones. There are less bones than spinosaurus or suchomimus lairs. There are also less dinosaurs in the presence of the lair. No lair actions.
