Shadow Melt. The Sovereign can melt into a shadowy substance, Allowing it to move freely without provoking an opportunity attack
Shadow Stealth. While in its shadow form and in the dark, the Sovereign is completely invisible.
Multiattack. The Sovereign makes three attacks: two with its claws, one with its bite.
Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 14 (1d12 + 4) piercing damage.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, range 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 17 (2d8 + 6) piercing damage.
As a bonus action, the Roamer can melt into its Shadow shape and move up to 20 ft. away. This ability recharges after dealing at least 20 damage.
Side step. When a creature within 5 ft. makes a melee attack, the Sovereign jumps sideways 5 ft. on a successful DC 14 Dexterity saving throw without provoking an opportunity attack. On a failure, the Sovereign takes an additional half of the damage dealt to it.
The Sovereign can take 2 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature’s turn. The Sovereign regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.
Infect (Costs 1 Action). The Sovereign infects its target if it is incapacitated. Unless cured by a Remove Curse or a Wish spell, within 1d4 days, the infected creature becomes a Darkling Convert.
Teleport (Costs 1 Action). The Sovereign opens a portal and leaps through it, teleporting anywhere within 100 ft.
Description
The Darkling Sovereign is an evolved form of the Roamer. It has four massive blade-like claws and a massive maw with sharp teeth. The Sovereign does not have eyes or ears and its mouth served the only purpose of killing.
