Description

Conscripted from wealthier cities, these urban militias are given some light training, and often include in their ranks some members of the local city watch; and further they are often better equipped than rural peasants as well. As a result, they are better able to stand up in a fight, though they are not truly the equals of professional soldiers.

Variant Urban Militias

Crossbowmen: replace pike with heavy crossbow (decrease CR to 1/8)

Arquebusier: replace pike with arquebus (dex based; recharge (5 or 6), range 40/120, deals 9 (2d8) piercing damage)

Swordsmen: replace pike and short sword with shield and longsword

Halberdier: replace pike with halberd

Better Armor: replace chain shirt with breastplate increase AC by 1 (increase crossbow CR to 1/4)

Worse Armor: replace chain shirt with padded armor, decrease AC by 2 (decrease CR to 1/8)
