Antimagic Susceptibility. The Blade Sphere is incapacitated while in the area of an antimagic field. If targeted by dispel magic, the Blade Sphere must succeed on a Constitution saving throw against the caster's spell save DC or fall unconscious for 1 minute.
Enchanted Blades. The Blade Sphere's melee weapon attacks count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistances.
Whirling Defense. The Blade Sphere can take a reaction on every turn in combat. This reaction must be used to Parry.
Iron Center. If the Blade Sphere reaches 0 hitpoints, it falls to the ground, all magic dispelled. The iron, rune-covered sphere that was in its center is worth about 20 (3d10+3) sp.
Shred. Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 16 (5d4 + 4) piercing damage.
Burst (Recharge 6). A hundred or more of the Blade Sphere's blades fly out from it. All creatures in a 25 ft. sphere centered on the Blade Sphere must make a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw (with disadvantage if they are within 10 feet of the Blade Sphere), taking 9 (2d4+4) piercing damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. When the Burst action recharges, all of the flung blades fly back into orbit around the Blade Sphere if not destroyed.
Parry. The Blade Sphere adds 2 to its AC against one ranged weapon or melee attack that would hit it.
Description
Whereas a Flying Sword or a Rug of Smothering may be used as a trap to defeat unwary trespassers, A Blade Sphere is a much more obvious threat.
A Blade Sphere generally consists of an iron sphere (usually about 5 inches in diameter) icovered with runes, around which hundreds of small, sharp metal blades about an inch long and wide whirl at extremely high speeds, animated by the magic of the Blade Sphere's creator. In all, the Blade Sphere takes up a sphere of about 24 inches in diameter. It hovers about a foot or so above the ground, normally.
Blade Sphere's are mainly made for combat, but some Wizards also use them as guards.

Posted Mar 6, 2019Very creative! I am a huge fan of this, and would love to use it in one of my upcoming games. More people should know about this, it scores high on mechanics and style points! Thank you so much for your addition to the world of homebrew!
