Description
Apyrs are dark entities born into creation when a person of good nature commits an act of horrific evil. The dark thoughts an emotions that were used to commit this act strip off a piece of the persons soul to create an Apyr. When an Apyr is born it mirrors itself after its creator, adopting their physical features and even their personality, though often to a rather exaggerated degree. Apyrs are even known to temporarily imitate creature with which they don't share a bond with in combat.
Apyrs are constructs that can become more human and more powerful from feeding off of their creators negative emotions. There is a legend of a king who once produced an Apyr in the heat of war, and he suppressed the emotions that birthed this creature, so hard that the Apyr grew powerful enough to wipe out the entire kingdom.
While Apyrs are considered to be dark and evil creatures by nature, they are subject to the emotions and personalities of those who create them and so their alignment is far more malleable than most assume.
Apyrs can be unpredictable in combat if encountered as their difficulty can range drastically depending on their creator. When an Apyr is defeated in battle it returns to a state of hybernation where it will feed off of its creator until it is strong enough to re-awaken. The only known way of killing an Apyr is through the death of its creator, since it lives as a piece of that persons soul. Scholars have theorized that an Apyrs creator may have a way of using its emotions to destroy an Apyr withought loss of life but the creatures are far too rare to practically study and there remains no ethical way of producing one for study.
