Traits

Antimagic Susceptibility: The fox is incapacitated while within the area of an antimagic field. If targeted by a dispel magic spell, the fox must make a constitution saving throw against the caster’s spell save DC or be knocked unconscious for 1 minute.

Actions

Bite: Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 4 (1d4 + 2) piercing damage.

Illuminate! (Recharge: 6 Turns) The fox overloads its illumination runes, emitting extremely bright light for 20 feet, bright light for an additional 40 feet, and a further 80 feet of dim light. Each creature in the initial area must make a DC 13 Constitution saving throw or be blinded. A blinded creature can repeat this save at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. Additionally the fox cannot use its runic illumination until this ability is recharged.

Bonus Actions

Runic Illumination: As a bonus action the fox can cause its runes to glow or dim. While glowing the fox sheds bright light for a 20 foot radius and dim light for an additional 20 feet.

Description

Faithful Familiar. The filigree fox is a finely machined creation of master engineers and artificers. Able to channel light through its runes and gemstones. Many wealthy merchants and nobles use the filigree fox as a pet or toy for their children, as it is able to protect them to a small degree.

Adventurers have many uses for filigree foxes; a torch that carries itself, retrieving small items, scouting ahead and in emergencies they can blind their enemies.

Artisan's Accomplice. Sometimes a craftsman will create a filigree fox for their own needs, these foxes come specially equipped with a variety of different features. Commonly these can include such quality of life improvements as a compartment for tools, and a delicate light to provide illumination in dark workshops.

Adventurer's with talented engineers as relatives may have grown up with these precious companions. Sometimes they are equipped with enhanced combat upgrades, and the adventurer uses them much like a ranger would an animal companion.
