Traits

Banana Mimicry. When not moving the banider is indistinguishable from a bunch of bananas.

Spider Climb. The banider can climb difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without needing to make an ability check.

Web Sense. While in contact with a web, the banider knows the exact location of any other creature in contact with the same web.

Web Walker. The banider ignores movement restrictions caused by webbing.

Actions

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 1 piercing damage, and the creature must make a DC 9 Constitution saving throw or take 2 (1d4) damage.

Rot Bite (1/day). Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach ft., one creature. Hit: 1 piercing damage, and the creature must make a DC 9 Constitution saving throw or begin rotting. If they fail their saving throw then they immediately accrue one point of exhaustion and must make a saving throw at the end of each day to avoid rotting even more. If they fail then they gain one more point of exhaustion, if they succeed the DC increases by 1. The DC caps out at 16. A creature may be cured of this affliction if it takes an hour long bath in a spring enchanted by fey or the greater restoration spell or a similar spell is cast upon it. A creature immune to necrotic or poison damage or the poisoned condition is immune to this effect.

Reactions

Unpeel. The banider removes itself from its peel, sacrificing its minimal protection avoid a melee attack that would hit it. It moves 5 feet in a direction away from its attacker and its AC becomes 6. The banider regrows its peel and restores its AC at the next dawn.

Description

The banider is a strange creature indeed, one of the most unique in all the worlds it calls home. Though its connection to the Beefholder is dubious, it is logical to conflate the two beasts and suspect some mad mage created both monsters. Whatever the case baniders are an innocuous but large threat to all those that they come across in their tropical homes.
They have the same body plan as simple spiders, but with an obvious difference: their body is a banana, and their legs are all further bananas emerging from this central banana. Their peel acts as a minimal exoskeleton as they walk around, but when they must bite something the peel unwraps itself from around their head, revealing their gigantic mandibles. Unsurprisingly, the strange creature uses its banana-like visage to fool its prey that can be potentially as large as a decapod. They lack the ability to create their own webs, but they can and sometimes do steal webs from other spiders. Without one they hunt and live in a manner similar to tarantulas.
The secret to this creature's success isn't an incredibly poisonous bite, it's instead something far more horrific: this spiderlike freak of nature can induce rotting in a still-living creature with it's bite. A creature unlucky enough to be bitten by a banider will find itself slowly rotting over the course of the next few days; losing their hair, skin falling off first in flakes and then in sheets, organ falling apart and falling out of their body, nothing short of the ultimate body horror. If the victim somehow manages to stave off the symptoms for a time they typically come back twice as worse. Most creatures die within a week of being bitten while the banider patiently and cautiously stalks its dying prey, waiting until it's entirely dead to swoop in and suck up the remains from a proboscis-like mouth.
If a banider is killed one will find that all of it's body parts are edible just like a normal banana, and taste just as good too, save for the eyes which taste like that nasty black bit at the tip of the banana. They rot especially fast however, their bodies are typically brown and ruined in just a day of their death.
