Spellcasting. The acolyte is a 1st-level spellcaster. Its spellcasting ability is Wisdom (spell save DC 12, +4 to hit with spell attacks). The acolyte has following cleric spells prepared:
Cantrips (at will): light, sacred flame, thaumaturgy
1st level (3 slots): bless, cure wounds, sanctuary
Actions
Club. Melee Weapon Attack: +2 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 2 (1d4) bludgeoning damage.
Description
Acolytes are junior members of a clergy, usually answerable to a priest. They perform a variety of functions in a temple and are granted minor spellcasting power by their deities.
I’m new how do I start a battle?
create an encounter then use "Run encounter", note the initiative and then "start"
Agreed, brother. Splooge.
Why doesn't he have a actual picture?
Good catch! The Apprentice Wizard is also a "1st-level spellcaster," but they only get 2 spell slots. My bet is they accidentally gave the Acolyte an extra slot.
what i kinda like this
it is a good reminder of what dungeons and dragons is.
They should give them guiding bolt. 4d6 radiant is will make 1st and 2nd level characters sit at the edge of their seat.

Excuse me can you explain the topic that you are on currently? Also, I have a few questions. One, I thought of a system of hiring which is pretty much you use persuasion, intimidation, or some other form of talking, then tell the person to join you without charging money you. S0 it is pretty much you hire them, give them 0 money in return, and if they don't listen you kill them. It does seem pretty farfetched or a little cruel at first, but I use it.

They know, they said they think the spellcaster level refers to what level of spells are available, not the character level. So basically, a 9th level monster spellcaster would actually be 17th or 18th level in character terms, and thus would have 9th level spells available to it.
I don't believe this is true though. The arcanaloth is a 16th level spellcaster, but it can only cast spells up to half its level. (8th level) And if you look at other monster spellcasters you'll see the same thing.
anyone else got a acolyte character
good for level 1 players
acotyles are like the extras of DND encounters, because they are just....there.....in the encounter/
why do we need acotyles if we have priests, for cryin' out loud!
but I run an Out of the Abyss campaign, so I understand a good monster for low level characters when I see one...(also because they are basically almost half the encounters in the campaign!)
