Turn Resistance. The legionnaire has advantage on saving throws against features that turn undead.
Heat Absorption. Whenever the legionnaire would take fire damage, it instead takes no damage and its armor and weapons glow white hot. Until the end of its next turn, its weapons attack deal an additional 9 (2d8) fire damage, and any creature that ends its turn within 5 ft. of the legionnaire or hits it with a melee attack takes 5 (1d10) fire damage.
Undead Fortitude. If damage reduces the legionnaire to 0 hit points, it must make a Constitution saving throw with a DC of 5 + the damage taken, unless the damage is radiant or from a critical hit. On a success, the legionnaire drops to 1 hit point instead.
Multiattack. The legionnaire makes two longsword attack.
Longsword. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 8 (1d8 + 4) slashing damage damage, or 9 (1d10+4) slashing damage if used with two hands.

Description
Also know as Blackened Soldiers or The Burned Undead, these charred, black skeletons with bits of burned flesh and ashen skin clinging to it, wearing melted armor and wielding a broken, semi functional weapon; smelling as a burned corpse, are Ashen Legionnaires, and they're a disgusting, horrifying sight.
Mysterious Origins. Scholars debate and argue as to where these undead soldiers came from. They roam old, ruined castles and distant, faraway graveyards in the material plane, and protect dark cities and black towers in the Shadowfell, but none knows how they got there. Strange necrotic magic fuels these undead, and analyzing them is difficult. Some think they're the flesh of those who now burn in purgatory, animated by a malevolent spirit, others think they're the scattered undead army of the mysterious Arch-Lich Vecna. However they came to be, they are a mighty soldier indeed.
Relentless Warriors. While not particularly dangerous in combat, wielding no spells and only a single melee weapon, the legionnaires are highly durable. Standard weapons have little effect on them, poison does nothing, they can withstand magic to a certain degree and they need to be killed multiple times in order to really crumble and fall, not to mention how fire not only has no adverse effect on them, their weapons and armor absorb the heat, and make fighting them harder.
Marshal Training. While not intelligent by any means, they are called soldiers and legionnaires for a reason. They fight in groups, marching forward in unison, battling together. They use simple tactics and strategy, can wield most melee weapons, and they can operate siege weaponry. They understand the dangers of an enemy spellcaster and the value of one on their side, and will adjust their fighting accordingly.
Indeed, the ashen legionnaires are a scary and mysterious force. Their unknown origins and unusual toughness make them feared by adventurers, but what scholars truly fear, is the idea that the legion be reunited, to an army of relentless, undead warriors.
