Bugbears are hairy goblinoids born for battle and mayhem. They survive by raiding and hunting, but are fond of setting ambushes and fleeing when outmatched.
Bugbear have long arms
is that Mathew mercer saying bugbear?
He actually has a good gaming chair
Not sure if you've found out by now but the reason for the extra die is the brute ability
Yes, they fixed it now, back then there was no explanation in the statblock.
This guy kind of makes ogres look like wussies. Might have to give ogres the brute feature too. Fitting considering their, well.... brutishness, and their weight.
doesn't look anything like a bug or a bear.
Yeah, now that you mention it, the name really doesn’t make sense…
While it is unknown what exact connection (if any) that Bugbears share with actual bears, or how they came to have bear-like traits, but the name of the species derives from the Middle English "bugge" ("something vexing/frightening", a "scarecrow") + bear, so, in essence, it is best referred to straightforwardly as "an annoying bear" or "a scary bear".Its name is derived from the Middle English word "bugge" (a frightening thing), or perhaps the Old Welsh word bwg (evil spirit or goblin), or Old Scots bogill (goblin), and has cognates in German bögge or böggel-mann (goblin), and most probably also English "bogeyman" and "bugaboo".
From https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bugbear
let them know that due to the bugbear's size, and over-long arms, it's capable of wielding the morningstar with significantly more force than your average adventurer
"They survive by hunting and raiding"
So if they couldn't find anyone to raid (big castles that shoots them from afar), they'll eat all the animals in the forest until they're extinct and then eat themselves. Sounds like a horrible way to live, they couldn't survive on their own.
there was a feature of bugbears in previous editions where they hit so hard their weapons did an extra die of damage
yo! whats up peoples! i am a new DM, and i would like to know how players regain health without potions? would like to know by saturday!
short rest or using a healing kit
How do I make a Bugbear character
ask him if his class or race gives him the Brute feat that this monster has. If he says no then there you go man from the past or whoever has this question.
if a dm wants this monster to have long arms he need but snap his fingers. I actually am going to run Lost Mine with a player who chose to be a bugbear so because of that I am buffing the bugbears >:)
what does the +4 after the melee weapon attack do?
Im trying to be a dm but nothing explains it and I cant figure it out
