Traits

Imitative Conversation. The Babbling can speak any language that it has heard within the past ten days. Whatever it says is based on a conversation it heard. It will try to repeat and continue the conversation to the best of its knowledge and ability. However, it cannot comprehend what it is saying or intelligently answer questions about it (ie. who said it, when it was said, the topic of the conversation, etc.)

Enhanced Eavesdropping. The Babbling has extremely keen hearing and can isolate speech from other noises in its head. It has advantage on all wisdom (perception) checks that rely on hearing. It can also hear anything that resembles speaking from up to 50 feet away as if they were right next to it. If the Babbling can hear multiple conversations at once, it can choose one to focus on and remember.

Actions

Frightful Cry. The Babbling opens its mouth and lets out a loud cry. All creatures within a 15 foot radius must succeed on a DC 10 CON saving throw or take 1d4 thunder damage. On a critical fail, the creature is frightened of the Babbling for one minute.

Body Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +2 to hit. Hit: 4 (1d6 - 2) bludgeoning damage.

Description

A Babble is a dangerous thing. Secrets, privacy, and common decency are things unknown to a Babble, but they are even worse as children. A Babble becomes a Babbling after a few months of life. Up until that point, they are just Babeys. After abut two years, the Babbling will age into a Babbler.

A Babbling has an oval like body, with one leg on each corner (four total). In the middle rests its head, small and mostly furless, unlike the rest of its body. It often has a few hairs on the top of its head, as well as large, movable ears.

The interesting thing about Babblings is that they have powerful hearing and memory. While they are not intelligent creatures themselves, they can easily repeat conversations and speak languages they have recently heard. They speak constantly, and can be either great wells of information or just plain old annoyances. Having a Babbling around, whether to use it or be used by it, is a dangerous thing.
