Imitative Conversation. The Babbler can speak any language that it has heard within the past two months. Whatever it says is based on a conversation it heard within said time. It will try to repeat and continue the conversation to the best of its knowledge and ability. It has a minor understanding of what it is saying, and can remember small details about where and when the original talk took place, and who it came from.
Enhanced Eavesdropping. The Babbler has extremely keen hearing and can isolate speech from other noises in its head. It has advantage on all wisdom (perception) checks that rely on hearing. It can also hear sounds from up to 75 feet away as if they were right next to it. If the Babbler can hear multiple conversations at once, it can choose a few to focus on and remember.
Enraged Yell. The Babbler opens its mouth wide and lets out a loud yell. All creatures within a 20 foot radius must succeed on a DC 13 CON saving throw or take 2d4 + 3 thunder damage. On a critical fail, the creature is frightened of the Babbling for one minute.
Body Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +2 to hit. Hit: 8 (2d6) bludgeoning damage.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit. Hit: 6 (1d4 + 3) piecing damage.
Description
A Babble is a dangerous thing. Secrets, privacy, and common decency are things unknown to a Babble. A Babble becomes a Babbling after a few months of life. Up until that point, they are just Babeys. After about two years, the Babbling will age into a Babbler.
A Babbler has an oval like body, with one leg on each corner (four total). In the middle rests its head, large and furry, like the rest of its body. It often has a few hairs on the top of its head that protrude out, as well as large, movable ears. Its wide mouth is in the middle of a hairless chin. Small fangs can be seen next to its teeth.
The interesting thing about Babblers is that they have powerful hearing and memory. While they are not the most intelligent creatures themselves, they can easily repeat conversations and speak languages they have recently heard. They speak constantly, and can be either great wells of information or just plain old annoyances. However, they can be reasoned with, and will often work with others who can make friends.
