Blood Frenzy. The shark has advantage on melee attack rolls against any creature that doesn't have all its hit points.
Water Breathing. The shark can breathe only underwater.
Actions
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 13 (2d8 + 4) piercing damage.
Description
Smaller than a giant shark but larger and fiercer than a reef shark, a hunter shark haunts deep waters. It usually hunts alone, but multiple hunter sharks might feed in the same area. A fully grown hunter shark is 15 to 20 feet long.
dude hunter shark
nice creature
it so. nice
Good for fighting weird waters.
This is just a shark. You don't have to put 'hunter' in front of shark. Also 'blood frenzy'? Come on, isn't society seeing the facts already? Humans do way more surplus killing than sharks. Not saying humans are bad. But I mean, you do have to admit it. It happens a lot. Also peeps are misjudging sharks. Sharks are vital to the environment and coconuts have killed more people than them. I'm not kidding. But good job to whoever made this, besides that.
5/5 would use again
u r dum. sharks do go into a mindless killing state when exposed to high amounts of blood.... also, why did you bring up humans? do you think we are judging sharks for not finishing there meal? the largest source of food for the deepest parts of the ocean are dead whale carcasses. orca's will kill a shark and eat only the liver. dus that make them bad? P.S. but yes, you are correct. humans are the worst. gratz!
It has 30 feet of Blindsight to represent Electroreception. Perfection.
This is designed for a fantasy world. Yes, animals tend to be more deadly and aggressive in fantasy settings. In the real world, humans pose more of a danger to sharks than sharks do to humans.
Also, sharks are predators, so hunting is what they do. It's just part of the circle of life. They kill other sea creatures for vital nutrients.
Wonder how come this and the Giant shark wheren't included in the 0-5 challenge monster cards, or the giant octopus.
Moon druid wildshape + investiture of stone + how do i make it breathe air? i want my land shark!
there is a burrowshark
Ventilating Lungs??? Sounds awesome btw!
I do believe the animal types were not included in those.
It's a smidge weak for a CR 2. I would recommend increasing the damage to 3d8 if you want something closer to the threat level of an underwater polar bear. A single strong attack with good dice and advantage to hit is a recipe for nasty criticals though so be careful there.
You can buff it's strength to 20 for +1 to hit & damage instead. Making it slightly more threatening without worrying about those crits rollin mad dice,
I'd recommend the strength buff for a miniboss for level 4 and lower characters. There's actually a really fun horror factor to being in the water with a big honkin' shark that is almost guaranteed to hit and deal decent damage every turn. For extra fun, let it grapple (escape dc 11 ) with a bite.
It's not about being an effective tactic, it changes it from "Oh no this big shark just bit me and is now floating there in front of me"
to "Oh no this big shark bit me and now I am in its mouth so I guess it's still biting me, hope it doesn't swim away or something,
it would be scary to be bitten and dragged away from my friends, unable to even see them clearly through the trail of my own blood
as the cold, dark water rushes past me and these razor-like teeth press deeper into my flesh."
A big honking shark biting and then letting go just isn't as scary, it has Final Fantasy, "walk up, attack then back up again" energy.
These are really cool but not very threatening monsters to summon using conjure animals.
So when using that spell, what I would recommend if a player wants to summon one is to either:
1 Change damage to 3d8+4. It may only be one bite with no grapple or anything but at least it'll be able to bite things really hard and with advantage.
Or 2 Summon 1 Hunter shark alongside 2 reef sharks. One hunter shark is about the same threat as two reef sharks, and the variety is fun.
If you feel like that's too much you can do just 1 extra reef shark.
I will be making this a 1x3 token on my map. In addition to that, I'll also be giving it a ram attack, DC 15 STR check to overturn any boat that seats less than 10 people. (Canoe, kayak, rowboat, raft, etc.)
I expect this to be especially devastating to the party's paladin and rogue, but the monk does not need to breathe and the cleric is amphibious anyway.
Oooooooo I like to make them fly. Muahahahahaha
i think it looks cool but can we get a pic
