Traits

Antimagic Susceptibility. The shield is incapacitated while in the area of an antimagic field. If targeted by dispel magic, the shield must succeed on a Constitution saving throw against the caster's spell save DC or fall unconscious for 1 minute.

False Appearance. While the shield remains motionless, it is indistinguishable from a normal shield.

Protection. The shield can enter a willing creature's space and stop there, and it can grant a +2 bonus to AC to any creature or object that it shares a space with. A creature can't benefit from more than one guardian shield at a time.

Actions

Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 4 (1d6 + 1) bludgeoning damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 12 Strength saving throw or else it is pushed 5 feet away from the shield.

Reactions

Block. When a creature the shield can see attacks a target other than the shield within 5 feet of the shield, the shield can impose disadvantage on the attack roll.

Description

A guardian shield appears to be a mundane shield until it rises into the air and hovers defensively around the target of its protective instincts. These shields serve as excellent discreet bodyguards, and are usually created to protect a particular person who is important to the creator, such as a child or a lover. Given no commands, these shields will act to defend anyone from harm.

Constructed Nature. An animated object doesn't require air, food, drink, or sleep.

An animated object reduced to 0 hit points loses its animating magic. It becomes inanimate, and it is too damaged to be of much use or value to anyone.
