Sudden Ambush. In the first round of combat, if the muskellunge has won the initiative and is the first one to attack, it has advantage on the first attack roll and its opponent is surprised.
Surprise Attack. If the muskellunge surprises a creature and hits it with an attack during the first round of combat, the target takes an extra 3 (1d6) damage from the attack.
Keen Senses. The muskellunge has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight, hearing or smell.
Underwater Camouflage. As long as the muskellunge remains motionless under water among algae, reeds or behind a rock, it has advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks.
Water Breathing. The muskellunge can breathe only underwater.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d6 + 2) piercing damage.
Description
The muskellunge is sometimes also called the freshwater shark. Its generally stays hidden behind a rock or camouflaged amongst algae or reeds waiting for its prey to pass close by. It then launch a sudden attack, counting on the surprise to defeat its opponent.
A full-grown specimen measures up to 5 feet long.
