Psychic Conditioning. The blokash is immune to the frightened and charmed conditions unless they are from effects created by an aboleth.

Water Breathing. The blokash can breathe only underwater.

Actions

Multiattack: The blokash makes two attacks with its barbels, uses Reel, and makes one bite attack.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 22 (3d10 + 6) piercing damage.

Barbel. Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 12 (2d8 + 3) piercing damage, and the target makes a Strength saving throw (DC 12). If the target fails they're grappled (escape DC 17), escaping from the grapple deals 1d4 piercing damage. If the target succeeds the barb doesn't pierce far enough to grapple the target.

Reel: The blokash pulls each creature grappled by it 5 feet towards it.

Description

The blokash is 30 feet long and resembles an extinct species of fish, it has no visible eyes but has two long barbels above its mouth. The ends of these barbels have small bony protrusions that easily pierce flesh, these bones are barbed forcing their prey to injure themselves further as they rip muscle and the surrounding flesh of the wound.

Aboleths Influence: The blokash was once an ordinary cavefish but when an Aboleths city collapsed into its cave the Aboleth's residual slime altered its evolution. The cavefish feasted on the Aboleths slime and became charmed by a master it never knew, the Aboleths influence may have not been able to reach the material plane since it was banished but it was still mentally tethered to those charmed by it. The Aboleth projected its emotions across the planes, its unyielding rage, its bitterness towards the gods, and its determined will to reclaim what it had once ruled. These feelings warped the blokash it no longer had the base instinct to survive for the sake of survival it had a new purpose it was to protect the Aboleths city, to be its eternal protector. As centuries passed the blowkash grew in size and its natural body was twisted to suit the needs of the Aboleth building a layer of sediment to protect itself from threats, forming new bones to skewer prey, and adapting its diet to require less and less food. Deep underground in a subterranean lake a monster lurks beneath the surface unseen and silent as it defends a forgotten city.
