Description
Bazerteses are large, shadowy creatures that inhabit the Barovia, Covorx and Gheger Valley regions, all located in Shadowfell. They are always wreathed in a shadowy smoke, which makes them hard to see. As a predator in there lands, they are a bane to inexperienced adventurers and merchants. In particular, the native Vistani are a food source - however, the Visatni have developed rituals over the centuries to drive these hungry beasts away. A Bazertese is often described as a cross between a bear and a giant ape, with powerful back limbs and shoulder blades. Preferring to hunt at night, they often stalk a target for hours, to find a particularly dark and suitable ambush spot. There bite can deliver a powerful burn and energy, which further weakens a victim. Only when a victim is weakened does the Bazertese tear it apart with it's powerful arms. If a target stays a range, Bazerteses forgo attacks to get in melee range, all while shooting powerful necrotic energy.
