Favored Enemy: Humanoids. (Choose two of your choice) The bandit archer has advantage on Wisdom (Survival) checks to track its favored enemies, as well as on Intelligence checks to recall information about them.
Natural Territory Hunter. The bandit archer particularly is familiar with one type of natural environment (of your choice) and is adept at traveling and surviving in such regions. When the bandit makes an Intelligence or Wisdom check related to its favored terrain, its proficiency bonus is doubled if the bandit is using a skill that its proficient in.
While traveling for an hour or more in its favored terrain, the bandit gains the following benefits:
- Difficult terrain doesn’t slow the bandit's group’s travel.
- Its group can’t become lost except by magical means.
- Even when it is engaged in another activity while traveling (such as foraging, navigating, or tracking), the bandit ranger remains alert to danger.
- If the bandit ranger is traveling alone, it can move stealthily at a normal pace.
- Is proficient in setting traps, from punji stick pits to hunting traps, to ensnare quarry.
- While tracking other creatures, the bandit ranger also learns their exact number, their sizes, and how long ago they passed through the area.
- Can create camouflaged concealment to blend with the terrain, for itself and others to hide behind.
Skulker. The bandit ranger is an expert at slinking through shadows. When the bandit ranger is hidden from a creature and miss it with a ranged weapon attack, making the attack doesn't reveal the bandit's position. Dim light doesn't impose disadvantage on its Wisdom (Perception) checks relying on sight.
Sharpshooting. Attacking at long range doesn't impose disadvantage on the bandit ranger's ranged weapon attack rolls. Its ranged weapon attacks ignore half cover.
Archer’s Eye (4/Day). As a bonus action, the archer can add 1d10 to its next attack or damage roll with a longbow.
Spellcasting. The bandit ranger is a 5th-level spellcaster. Its spellcasting ability is Wisdom (spell save DC 13, +4 to hit with spell attacks). The bandit has the following ranger spells prepared:
1st level (4 slots): hunter's mark, zephyr strike, hail of thorns, alarm
2nd level (3 slots): pass without trace, cordon of arrows
Laced Hunting Traps. (x2) The bandit ranger can use its action, typically before combat in preparation for an ambush, to set it. This trap forms a saw-toothed steel ring that snaps shut when a creature steps on a pressure plate in the center. The trap is affixed by a heavy chain to an immobile object, such as a tree or a spike driven into the ground, and is normally covered over to conceal its location. A creature that steps on the plate must succeed on a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw or take 2d4 piercing damage and stop moving. A creature caught in the trap must then succeed a DC 16 Constitution saving throw or take 1d6 poison damage at the start of every turn it remains in the trap, once a trapped target receives 14 or more poison damage its body becomes paralyzed. Thereafter, until the creature breaks free of the trap, its movement is limited by the length of the chain (typically 3 feet long). A creature can use its action to make a DC 15 Strength check, freeing itself or another creature within its reach on a success. Each failed check deals 2 piercing damage to the trapped creature.
Multiattack. The bandit makes two attacks with its longbow or two with its shortsword.
Shortsword. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d6 + 4) piercing damage.
Longbow. Ranged Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, range 150/600 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d8 + 4) piercing damage.
