Split. When an Arcane Moulder that is Medium or larger is subjected to lightning or slashing damage, it splits into two new Arcane Moulders if it has at least 10 hit points. When halved, one half can only use half the spells it knows and the others can only use the other half. Each new Arcane Moulder has hit points equal to half the original, rounded down. New Arcane Moulders are one size smaller than the original jelly. Each time it splits after being halved, instead of being halved again, one new Arcane Moulder breaks off, taking one spell with it.
Description
An Ancient Arcane moulder is an enormous melded together ooze created as a result of a failed experiment with arcane fungi- masses of fungi bonded with the still living wizards, sorcerers, druids etc. taking part in the experiment and melded to them. It is an ambulatory undead ooze that feeds off of magical beings, striving only to become larger and larger.
It can cast spells. Though it has no higher intelligence of it's own, it can speak. Necromancers, Liches, Vampires, Elder Evils and Greater Fiends can control these creatures, speak through them, and cast their own spells through them.
Since the arcane fungi are channels of unstable cosmic magic, it is entirely possible that they may suddenly become a conduit or portal for a greater cosmic evil that takes notice of them. As such these creatures are generally found locked away in anti-magic chambers, often for thousands of years, hence the prefix "ancient".
