Traits

Illumination. The blaze sheds bright light in a 30-foot radius and dim light in an additional 30 feet.

Water Susceptibility. For every 5 feet the blaze moves in water, or for every gallon of water splashed on it, it takes 2 (1d4) cold damage.

Innate Spellcasting. The blaze's innate spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 15, +6 to hit with spell attacks). It can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:

At will: fire bolt, sword burst

3/day each: cloud of daggers, scorching ray

2/day each: fireball

Actions

Multiattack. The blaze makes two flaming scimitar attacks.

Flaming Scimitar. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d6 + 4)slashing damage and 3 (1d6) fire damage

Cinder Breath (Recharge 6). The blaze exhales a 15-foot cone of smouldering ash. Each creature in that area must succeed on a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw or be blinded until the end of the blaze's next turn.

Reactions

Parry. The blaze adds 3 to its AC against one melee attack that would hit it. To do so, the blaze must see the attacker and be wielding a melee weapon.

Description

A vague head shape can be seen in the centre of the floating ball of hellfire, acrid smoke billowing from its core, whirling in turbulence as several firey blades hover around itself. Native to the elemental plane of fire, they're often summoned to be used as gardians by those strong-willed enough to control their fiery tempers. Unleashed, however, they won't hesitate to set their surroundings alight, turning the world to smoke and cinders in mimicry of their home.

Loot upon death

Upon being slain, or returning to their elemental plane if killed on the material plane, a blaze will drop one of its scimitars (45%) as a scimitar flame tongue sword.

Blaze powder can also be gathered from where the blaze fell, which is a common ingredient in potions of fire resistance.
