Familiarity. A familiar bond can be made with a rancor until it reaches adulthood, in which to maintain the bond, the other creature must succeed on a DC17 WIS saving throw, or the bond will be broken. A new bond cannot be made once the rancor reaches adulthood.
Multiattack. The rancor makes two Melee attacks, or one Grab attack and one Throw attack.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +2 to hit, range: 5 ft., one target. Hit: 12 (3d4) piercing damage.
Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: +2 to hit, range: 5 ft., one target. Hit: 12 (3d4) slashing damage.
Grab. The rancor selects one tiny or small creature within 5 feet. The target must succeed on a DC16 DEX saving throw or be grappled by the rancor (escape DC17).
Throw. If the rancor has a grappled creature, it can throw it 2d12+2 ft. When it lands, it takes 12 (3d4+1) bludgeoning damage.
Description
A rancor is a bipedal, vaguely reptilian, carnivorous creature with tiny eyes and a mouth full of jagged, uneven fangs. It has a humped back and a curve in its spine, with a short tail at the end.
Social Hierarchy. A rancor will obey any creature capable of defeating it in a fight, leading to a hierarchy in their groups.
