Catastrophic Damage. If the vessel takes 50 or more damage from a single attack, roll a d6. On a 1 the vessel capsizes and is destroyed but the crew survives.
Desertborn Magic. Anauroch cruisers have a Desertborn onboard - sorcerers that belong to a mysterious cult that are supposedly born from the sand itself. As an action the cruiser can have their Desertborn tap into the magical weave of the great desert, choosing from the following options. The same option cannot be taken two turns in a row.
Mirrage. The Desertborn projects an illusion of itself on a parallel path. All attacks against the cruiser until the start of its next turn have disadvantage.
Dessicate. The Desertborn draws the water from all living beings within a 50 ft. sphere up to 200 ft. away from the cruiser. Any creature that has blood or vessel crewed by creatures that have blood within a 50 ft. sphere must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or take 42 (12d6) necrotic damage or half as much of a successful save.
Sandwalk. The Desertborn teleports the cruiser through the weaves of sand to a location up to 100 ft. in any direction, ignoring any obstacles or vessels in its path. The cruiser can then make up to two Mounted Crossbow Barrage attacks.
Multiattack. A fully crewed cruiser can make two ballista attacks and up to two mounted crossbow barrage attacks.
Ballista. Ranged Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, range 160/450 ft., 1 target. Hit: 38 (8d6 + 10) piercing damage. A ballista has a -5 penalty for each size category of the target below Huge. Non-vehicle targets Large or smaller must make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw, taking half damage on a success.
Mounted Crossbow (Barrage 2). Ranged Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, range 100/400 ft., 1 target. Hit: 32 (3d10 + 16) piercing damage. Non-vehicle targets Large or smaller must make a DC 12 Dexterity saving throw, taking half damage on a success. Barrage attacks do not trigger catastrophic damage.
Sandform (1/Day). The Desertborn briefly dematerializes the cruiser into a cloud of sand before rematerializing at the same position or up to 20 ft. away if it was rammed by another vessel. Ignore all damage from a single bludgeoning, slashing or piercing attack. This can be used after damage has been decided.
