Traits

Regeneration. Adrian regains 20 hit points at the start of his turn if he has at least 1 hit point. If he takes radiant damage or damage from holy water, this trait doesn't function till the start of his next turn.

Phylactery. When Adrian drops to 0 hit points outside of his manor, his body rapidly decomposes into a pile of mold, instead of falling unconscious. His soul, which is invisible, is immediately transported back to his Phylactery located deep beneath his manor, where his body reforms after 2 days. If the Phylactery is destroyed before his body is reformed, or before he is dropped to 0 hit points, he is destroyed.

Legendary Resistance (3/day). If Adrian fails a saving throw, he can choose to succeed instead.

Spellcasting. Adrian von Krezk is a 9th-level spellcaster. His spellcasting ability is Intelligence (spell save DC 18, +10 to hit with spell attacks). He has the following wizard spells prepared:
Cantrips (at will): Chill Touch, Toll the Dead, Sapping Sting
1st level (4 slots): False Life, Ray of Sickness, Inflict Wounds. 2nd level (3 slots): Blindness/Deafness, Ray of Enfeeblement, Detect Thoughts. 3rd level (3 slots): Animate Dead, Summon Undead, Vampiric Touch. 4th level (3 slots): Blight, Shadow of Moil, Greater Invisibility. 5th level (1 slot): Contagion, Raise Dead.

Actions

Multiattack. Adrian makes two attacks, two with his unarmed strikes, or two with his spectral longsword.

Unarmed Strike. Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 5ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d8 + 4) slashing damage plus 14 (4d6) necrotic damage. If the target is a creature, Adrian can grapple it (escape DC 18) instead of dealing the bludgeoning damage.

Spectral Longsword. Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 5ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d8 + 4) force damage.

Soul Drain. Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 5ft., one creature that is grappled by Adrian, incapacitated, or restrained. Hit: 7 (1d6 + 4) piercing damage plus 10 (3d6) necrotic damage. The targets hit point maximum is reduced by the number of necrotic damage taken, and Adrian regains hit points equal to that amount. The target dies if its hit point maximum is reduced to 0, and their soul is claimed by Adrian. They then become a zombie under Adrians control.

Horde the of Dead (1/day). Adrian magically raises 2d4 zombies to his location, provided that the sun is not up.

Legendary Actions

Adrian can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. Adrian regains spent legendary actions at the start of his turn.

Move (Costs 0 Actions). Adrian can move up to his movement speed without provoking opportunity attacks.

Sword Attack. Adrian can make one attack with his Spectral Longsword

Soul Drain (Costs 2 Actions). Adrian can make a Soul Drain attack.

Description

Adrian von Krezk was once the most celebrated physician in all of Nocturnem and was known for his skill as an alchemist. However, many began to suspect that his success as a doctor, came not from skill, but from much darker powers. The people of his town, in the form of an angry mob, burned the unsuspecting doctor's house to the ground and burned his wife and child to death. As the flames licked at his skin, Adrian called out to any god that would listen and vowed to avenge the death of his family and destroy the people he once treated and cared for. He returned from death a charred corpse, but also with necromantic powers that he quickly put to good use. He rebuilt his manor, Castle Von Krezk, and unleashed a lethal disease upon the townsfolk, turning them into mindless zombies under his control. He has spent the last 200 years alone in his castle to this day, plotting a way to unleash his pain upon the world who left him and his family to burn.
