Pack Tactics. The drake has advantage on an attack roll against a creature if at least one of the drake’s allies is within 5 feet of the creature and the ally isn’t incapacitated.
Surprise Attack. If the drake surprises a creature and hits it with an attack during the first round of combat, the target takes an extra 7 (2d6) damage from the attack.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 4 (1d6 + 1) piercing damage.
Description
Ambush Drakes can also be potential choices for a beast master should the DM allow it. Such drakes have their starting hit dice halved for 13 HP (2d8+4), and do 1d6 less damage with surprise attack.
VARIANT: CHROMATIC AMBUSH DRAKES
Each type of ambush drake has a minor boon based on its draconic ancestry. Each has one of the following special features described below as determined by what type of scale color it has. The default Ambush Drake presented is a green one.
Black Guard Drake. A black ambush drake has resistance to acid damage.
Blue Guard Drake. A blue ambush drake has resistance to lightning damage.
Green Guard Drake. A green ambush drake has resistance to poison damage.
Red Guard Drake. A red ambush drake has resistance to fire damage.
White Guard Drake. A white ambush drake has resistance to cold damage.
