Echoing Eyes of Espial. Amadeus can see through any mirror to see into a area which another mirror is present within a 300ft radius, if the mirror is covered, tarnished or straight up broken he cannot access that mirror.
Gnosis. Through the very things that both lift Amadeus to unimaginable heights and yet ties him down, he's bound by the whim of the gnosis, twisting his desires and giving him an unending thirst to consume all love for a life of eternal bliss.
Innate Spellcasting. Amadeus is a ???-level spellcaster. His innate spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 22, +14 to hit with spell attacks) and allows him to cast spell without needing the material component. Amadeus has following spells in his arsenal:
At Will: Calm Emotions, Crown of Madness, Mage Armor, Phantasmal Killer (5th)
5/day: Counterspell, Mirror Image, Shield
3/day: Creation, Confusion, Silence
1/day: Dream, Eyebite, Negative Energy Flood (only within his lair)
His gnosis acts like an hourglass, tracking the time he has left before he requires another dose of emotions to keep himself stable an well. Typically he'll have 4 (Roll 2d4) days before he requires another feeding on emotions. To feed on emotions, he needs to suck his victim's strongest emotions up to three times to get enough for another "helping" to let him last (victim(s) makes a wisdom save DC 13).
Legendary Resistance. If Amadeus fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.
Shatter Susceptibility. If Amadeus targeted by the Shatter spell or a spell with similar enough effects, he suffers disadvantage on the save/the spell attack is made with advantage and is blinded till the end of the caster's next turn if the save fails.
Speculum Psyche. Along with his mirror shard connection(s), once per day Amadeus can use an action to force one or more of those connected to him to either:
- Take 1d4 psychic damage once per day. (If he decides to hold of on using any of these options, the 1d4 accumulates per day without use).
- Forget an event that occurred within the past 24 hours that spans with a 10 minute limit (a lesser restoration or similar higher level spells can cure this OR once the effects of the mirror shard wear off).
- Command a mirror sharded creature to do a single action (the command can only last a minute in the absolute best case).
Mirror Shards. Amadeus has the ability to form a mirror shard and attempt to embed it within a creature of his choosing. He can have 3 charges up per every 24 hours, regaining 1d3 at dawn. Using one of his charges, he can form a mirror shards and attempt to embed it into a creature's heart or eye, forcing them to make a Wisdom saving throw (DC 15 for the eye(s) DC 19 for the heart).
If a creature should fail this, they'll be connected to Amadeus for the next 24 hours (this can be ended early if Amadeus for any reason whatsoever chooses to do so OR dispel magic or a similar enough spell is casted, the Mirror Shards counting as a 7th level spell the case of dispel magic), giving him gateway into their soul.
If they were hit in the eye, they start seeing things that are pleasant as disgusting and horrid things become more euphorically delightful to witness (disadvantage on all ability checks requiring a creature to perceive in a scenario). If they were hit in the heart, they start having their emotions being cut of from themselves and will allow Amadeus an easier time consuming the creature's emotions and manipulating them a lot more easy (Victim make future wisdom saves/checks with disadvantage against Amadeus).
Multiattack. Amadeus makes 3 attacks with Mirrorlight's Edges (Dual-Wields Scimitars).
Mirrorlight's Edge. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, 1 target. Hit: 8 (1d6 + 4) magical slashing damage, plus an additional 3 (1d4) magical slashing per projection present.
Piercing Rebound. When Amadeus is subject to a successful attack and uses his reaction to cast up shield preventing the attack OR counterspells a -well- spell, along with negating the attack he can decide to sacrifice 3d4 hit points to shoot out glass shards and makes a spell attack against his attacker (dealing 6d4 silvered piercing damage on a success, or 2d4 silvered piercing damage on a fail).
If the attack was a critical hit towards Amadeus and he uses this special reaction, the attack sent back towards the opposing creature automatically crits and they must make a Constitution saving throw. On a fail their vision fades to non-sense as their sense blur, they take 2d6 thunder damage and become blind till the end of their next turn.
Amadeus can take 3 Legendary Actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action can be used at a time, and only at the end of another creature's turn. Spent legendary Actions are regained at the start of each turn.
Mirror Mask. Amadeus becomes invisible and gains a +5 bonus to stealth until he makes his next attack, casts a spell, gets attacked or simply calls it off himself.
Glass Aegis (2 actions). Until the end of Amadeus's next turn, his AC is raised to 17 (20 with mage armor) as he harden himself. he can choose to have this only take 1 legendary action, HOWEVER if he does so, he runs the risk of a scenario where if a magical bludgeoning is landed unto him, he'll take an additional 2d6 magical piercing damage as his AC reverts back to normal AND he become vulnerable to bludgeoning damage till he regains his legendary actions.
Quartz Tempest. Amadeus summons countless broken mirrors and they all shatter and fire off towards an cone area with a range of 60ft. Anyone caught within the cone area must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC 20), taking 6d8 magical silvered slashing damage on a fail or half on a success. He may spend additional legendary actions to increase the damage by 2d8, up to a max of 10d8.
Description
Amadeus is a near ancient deceptive fiend that has roamed across the world to consume love, using a powerful object called a gnosis to live with longevity, power and prestige. However, this power has it's costs, and overtime has corrupted him beyond belief leading him to lie, cheat, steal and even murder to gain his power. He aims to implant his power in others and use them as tools to further consume the love of others, and in due time his lustful goals to reach eternal enlightenment are coming close into reach...
Special Items. Amadeus holds two scimitars called Mirrorlight's Edges, his Gnosis (acts as a spellcasting focus with a +1 bonus to spell attacks and spell saves, HOWEVER is impure and cursed. So consult with yourself and others on the specifics and how it can be "purified") and 200gp (may add other items, typically ones related to divination or vanity).
Moonlight's Edge
Weapon (scimitar), rare (requires attunement)
This roughly hewn crystalline sword bends light in unexpected and dangerous ways. As an action, you can command the scimitar to emit up to 2 ghostly projections of itself. The sword can have up to 2 of these projections at any time, which last until dismissed (no action required). When you make a melee attack with this weapon, the projections become razor-sharp. Targets hit by the sword take an extra 1d4 slashing damage for each projection the sword has.
When swung, the distorted light and projections make the sword difficult to see. When you miss with a melee attack using the sword while it has at least 1 projection, you can choose to re-roll the attack by expending 1 of the projections. You must use the new roll. After the attack, 1 projection fades.
The sword emits dim light in a 5-foot radius while it has 1 projection and 10 feet while it has 2. Sheathing the scimitar contains the projections' light without dismissing them.
Lair and Lair Actions
The mirror world is the lair where an empty, fictitious world of Amadeus's heart of void forms and his connections to those who dream of a lost paradise are bound to his whim.
Lair Actions
On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), the Amadeus takes a lair action to cause one of the following effects; Amadeus can’t use the same effect two rounds in a row:
- Soul Shield. For every creature Amadeus is connected to that is conscious, he may draw upon their life force and make it his own. He may gain 1d12 temporary hit points (or regular if he so chooses) per creature he's connected to while each creature respectfully looses their own hit points. If this leads to the creature falling unconscious, their connection breaks and cannot be restored until they're conscious again and he embeds another mirror shard into them. In addition, he may also connect to a creature and gain an immunity that correlates to his chosen target (I.e. Fire immunity from tieflings or radiant immunity from lawful or good creatures).
- Cendrillon's Cyclone. Amadeus creates a large storm as a gale of cinder ashes and glass shards scatters into the eyes of everyone within a 40ft radius of him must make a Constitution save (DC 19) or become blinded till the end of their next turn. If they succeed against the save DC, the area is still lightly obscured until the end of Amadeus's next turn.
- Suspended Purity. Amadeus targets a single creature and glass starts creeping at their body from the ground below, the creature must make a Constitution save (DC 17). On a success they are unaffected, BUT on a fail they're considered restrained as the glass hardens around their body. If 10 or more damage (resisting fire but vulnerable to bludgeoning) is dealt towards a creature before the end of their next turn, they're unrestrained, BUT they take any excess damage dealt to them plus 2d6 silvered piercing damage.
On the start of their next turn if they weren't unrestrained before then, they must make another Constitution save (DC 16). On a success they're unrestrained, on a fail they're considered petrified as they're encased in glass for 1d4 rounds. They can be freed if 20 or more damage is dealt to their statue self (immune to fire and cold BUT vulnerability to magical bludgeoning, along with the parts the petrified condition provides), but excess damage is carried over to them along with 3d6 silvered piercing damage. He may only have up to 3 creatures encased in glass at a time. If he attempts to encase a creature and succeeds, the earliest to be encased is freed automatically. - Ebony's Envy. From the dark glass shards of those who stare back at you through the mirror, 1d4 ebony glass clones of any choice of enemy or ally within the lair are summoned. They take their action exactly like their counterparts and take their turn right after their counterpart, even if it's to their own detriment (I.e. A player shoots themself in the foot, and so on the glass clone does so too), the only thing different is the target(s)/direction/center (typically at their counterpart). They have 4d6 hp, immunity to poison and vulnerability to bludgeoning, otherwise they share the same stats as their counterpart.
Regional Effects
The region containing Amadeus's lair is a counterfeit realm where his hold on those who hope, despair and keep a balance on their life roam, which creates one or more of the following effects:
- Those under his influence automatically fail wisdom saves against illusions, believing them to be full on real. Others have to make perception/investigation checks (DC 21) and/or the occasional Wisdom saves (DC 19) to not succumb to the illusionary allure and false dreams of this twisted world, otherwise believing this is the real world and/or even gaining some short-term madness (Truesight allows you to automatically realize something is wrong).
- He may invoke his "Speculum Psyche" feature at will in this place, and the damage that can be dealt to his connections is is increased to 2d4 psychic damage (if he wishes).
- He is incapable of suffering under the blinded condition while in his lair, as his realm may act as his eyes.
If Amadeus dies, the realm breaks away and anyone inside must escape within 2d4+2 minutes or be lost to a broken world of reflection forever.
