Description
The Bear-cat, also known as a Wolverine in some regions of Andaria, is a stocky and muscular animal with short legs and broad and rounded head, small eyes and short rounded ears. While it does look as though someone crossed a bear with a cat, it is actually part of the same family as badgers, weasels, skunks and otters. While it's legs are short, its legs are short, its large, five-toed paws with crampon-like claws that enable it to climb up and over steep cliffs, trees and snow-covered peaks with relative ease
Bear-cats typically stand about 12 to 18 inches at the shoulder, range from 2 to 4 feet in length and a tail that adds another 6 to 10 inches to it's overall length. Its thick, dark, oily fur which is highly hydrophobic, making it resistant to frost cold.
Bear-cats are extremely tenacious when hunting or defending themselves. Their sense of smell makes them incredible trackers. When provoked, these creatures will attack with a ferocity that will drive off most other creatures, including predators much larger than themselves like bears, big cats, wolves and other predators that can be easily ten times their size.
