Black Eyed Child

Appearance and Behavior

They appear to be human children with pale skin, black hair, black nails, blackened teeth, and most commonly known for their black eyes. Other than the previously listed traits, the black eyed children vary in many ways which also includes clothing. These beings have rare, if ever recorded sightings. They are nocturnal and normally act like lost children who have gotten lost or runaway children. Devious and spiteful in nature, they are always fueled by some sort of anger and they feed off of the misery and pain of others. Emotional pain is especially sought after and off all of the emotional pain, desperation is the most stimulating for a black eyed child.

Black eyed children will never fight with one another but it is rare to see them work together unconditionally. In most cases, black eyed children will despise the black eyed children that created them even when working with those who created them.

Physiology

While mostly human in appearance and in internal structures. The black eyed children do have distinct differences. Firstly, the most noticeable physical trait are their eyes which appear to be fully black. These eyes are capable of darkvision over large distances. Their skin is pale due to their nocturnal activities, but otherwise is difficult to discern compared to lighter skin tones of humans. Their nails are black in color and are extremely hard and during combat, black eyed children will extend their nails into small talons and use them to claw their opponents. The black teeth of a black eyed child seems to be normal human like teeth at first, but similarly to their nails, the teeth become sharp and pointy which makes their bites highly dangerous. Besides just biting, the teeth of the black eyed child is able to release necrotic energy into the recipient and may even cause blindness for a short amount of time making their bites highly dangerous. A much lesser known fact of the black eyed children is that they have improved hearing which allows them to discern where noise is coming form but does not equate to the abilities of animals with superior hearing, nor blindsight such as bats.

Differences that are more difficult to discern can be seen in their internal organs. The heart is a very dark grey and the blood they produce is black. The blood is able to be used as an anesthetic but and numbing agent, but it seems to cause minor necrosis on affected areas depending on the dosage. The blood still has side affects that are unknown, but it is commonly speculated by scholars that the blood is possibly used in transforming human children into black eyed children. It has also been noted that black eyed children do not have reproductive organs of any kind and must use other methods of reproduction.

While there are some theories of how to utilize the body of a black eyed child to make various potions and materials. The ethics of carving up a black eyed child and utilizing it's parts is highly scrutinized by many scholars, researchers, and wizards due to their similarities to humanoids. There have been cases of unethical research which has brought in some information on what some parts of the bodies can be used for. The eyes have been said to be able to grant darkvision for long distances for long periods of time and the heart has been said to be used for Nondetection potions or even in necrotic/organic constructs.

Reproduction

Black eyed children do not reproduce normally. They begin by finding isolated or families that are not tight-knitted with the community. The other criteria is finding a young child or newborn within the household and select it as a target. After a target is selected, they will attempt to enter into their homes and charm the adults of the household. After successfully charmed, the adults will continue on with their lives normally with a singular change. They will provide for the black eyed child as if it was their child, this will cause the black eyed child to replace the target.

After successfully becoming part of the family, all other members will either begin abusing the target as a lesser child or in even more rarer cases, become ignored to the point of being ostracized as a non existent person. During this period is when the black eyed child begins feeding off of the pain and misery.

In the case of abuse, the target will eventually become more violent and begin acting vindictively towards the adults. Learning from the black eyed child unconsciously, the target begins developing similar patters to the black eyed child and may even begin to adopt some physical traits of black eyed children if they haven't already. Once the target reaches a point where they begin killing the other members of the family. Once the target has killed all but the black eyed child, they will attempt to kill the black eyed child, but find themselves unable to due to them having become a black eyed child.

In the rare case of isolation, the target becomes more and more desperate for attention but will not receive any but from the black eyed child. Initially, the target will be highly distrusting. But as years pass, the target will begin developing a bond to the child and the target slowly becomes more like the black eyed child. During this time, the black eyed child will feed off of the despair and misery. Once the target becomes close to that of a black eyed child, the black eyed child who is in the process of converting them will attempt to make a contract which will bind the target to the black eyed child. If accepted, the target will become a full fledged black eyed child and the two will leave the household. The other members of the family will then break out of the charm and remember everything they did to the target. The misery caused by this will feed the black eyed children that had left for many years.

Black eyed children created through isolation are bonded to the one who created them and will work with them. This is a very lucrative partnership as they can work in tandem to cause misery and can create more black eyed children. While extremely rare, it is possible for there to be packs of black eyed children which is extremely dangerous due to the constant use of wailing cry to charm creatures around them.
