Traits

Smoke Appearance. The Ash Walker can enter a hostile creature's space and stop there. It can move through a space as narrow as 1 inch wide without squeezing. The Ash Walker also suffers no penalty to its movement due to difficult terrain.

Ashen Form. The Ash Walker Creatures who start their turn within 10ft of the Ash Walker take 6 (1d10) necrotic damage.

Actions

Multiattack. The Ash Walker makes two claw attacks. It can substitute Ash Cloud instead of one claw attack.

Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 14 (2d8 + 5) slashing damage.

Ash Cloud. The Ash Walker pounds the earth, causing a 10ft-radius cloud of soot and ash to arise centered on the Ash Walker. The area is heavily obscured until the end of the Ash Walker's next turn.

Choke [rollable](Recharge 4–6);
The Ash Walker targets one large or smaller creature it can see. The Ash Walker descends upon the creature. That creature must make a DC 15 strength saving throw or be engulfed by the creature. An engulfed creature is restrained by the Ash Walker and moves with the Ash Walker when the Walker moves. An engulfed creature also takes 11 (3d6) necrotic damage at the start of each of its turns inside the Ash Walker. A creature is released if the Ash Walker takes 30 damage from a single source in one turn, or if the creature succeeds on a DC 15 strength saving throw at the end of its turn. A released creature exits prone in the nearest unoccupied space.

Description

Ash Walkers are dark creatures, almost mindless in their animalistic brutality. They roam in the lands that are being destroyed by the King of Ashes' dark curse: the Withering. As the land falls to famine, decay, and wither, these Ash Walkers rise out of the dust. Sentient and smoke-like, with arms ending in black claws, Ash Walkers exist only to kill, eat, and continue spreading rot and decay.
