Posted Sep 17, 2021Heya! I'd recommend checking out other NPCs with spellcasting as a class to see how that's written up. a cult fanatic has this blurb:
Spellcasting. The fanatic is a 4th-level spellcaster. Its spellcasting ability is Wisdom (spell save DC 11, +3 to hit with spell attacks). The fanatic has the following cleric spells prepared:
Cantrips (at will): light, sacred flame, thaumaturgy
1st level (4 slots): command, inflict wounds, shield of faith
2nd level (3 slots): hold person, spiritual weapon
For the Bard Cultist, you could do something similar. If you want to keep it at or close to the 1/8 CR, maybe only add one level of bard. If you wanted to beef him up, maybe let him have two levels. I'd make it look like this:
Spellcasting. The cultist is a 2nd-level spellcaster. Its spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 11, +3 to hit with spell attacks). The cultist has the following bard spells prepared:
Cantrips (at will): minor illusion, vicious mockery
1st level (3 slots): charm person, faerie fire, healing word, sleep, tasha's hideous laughter
