Eye Weakness. If the bulbear is not blinded, a creature attacking it can choose to target one of its eyes. This attack has a -5 penalty to the attack roll. If the attack hits, the bulbear takes an additional 7 (2d6) damage. If the bulbear is hit by two such attacks in a single round, it is blinded until the end of its next turn.
Keen Sight and Smell. The bulbear has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight or smell.
Pack Leader. The bulbear’s allies have advantage on attack rolls while within 5 feet of it.
Play Dead (1/day). If the bulbear is reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, it lets out a false death cry and collapses to the ground, faking its death. A creature can discern that the bulbear is alive with a DC 14 Investigation or Perception check. If a bulbear in this state takes 10 or more damage in a single turn, it dies. Otherwise the bulbear stands back up after one minute with all its hit points restored.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 29 (4d12 + 3) piercing damage.
Description
A midsize subspecies within the grub-dog family, the spotty bulbear's unique feeding habits set it apart from other grub-dogs. The spotty bulbear patrols a set path searching for prey, instead of passively feeding on creatures that wander into a limited territorial range. When entering bulbear habitat, it is wise to proceed with extreme caution until the bulbear's patrol path can be clearly identified.
