Massive Frame. The alcyoneus beetle can carry up to 40,000 pounds of weight atop its back, but moves at half speed if the weight exceeds 20,000 pounds. Large or smaller creatures can move underneath the alcyoneus beetle while it’s not prone.
Any creature under the alcyoneus beetle when it falls prone is grappled (escape DC 22). Until the grapple ends, the creature is prone and restrained.
Multiattack. The alcyoneus beetle makes two attacks: one with its bite and one with its stomp.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +15 to hit, reach 20 ft., one target. Hit: 37 (6d8 + 10) piercing damage.
Stomp. Melee Weapon Attack: +15 to hit, reach 20 ft., one target. Hit: 32 (4d10 + 10) bludgeoning damage.
Volcanic Horn (Recharge 6). The alcyoneus beetle launches volcanic debris into the air, causing it to rain down around it. All other creatures within 120 feet of the alcyoneus beetle must make a DC 22 Dexterity saving throw, taking 16 (3d10) bludgeoning damage and 16 (3d10) fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. A creature that fails the save by 5 or more is knocked prone.
Description
If you are ever out in the open ocean and see a small island, maybe 100 feet long, that wasn't there yesterday, be cautious, because you might have run into an Alcyoneus Beetle. These massive earth elementals are fairly docile, sometimes staying asleep for years on end, but they can be quite destructive unintentionally if they are disturbed. To truly witness the might of the Alcyoneus Beetle, one only has to look towards the plume of dark smoke billowing out of its horn. If it feels it is in danger, the elemental will cause an eruption of volcanic rock to burst out of its horn, raining down on anything surrounding it. Thankfully, there is not much in the world that poses a threat to a creature of its size, and if you do find something that fits the bill, you probably have bigger problems.
Elemental Nature. An Alcyoneus Beetle doesn't require air, food, or drink.
