Actions

Pseudopod. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 10 (3d6) bludgeoning damage. Creatures hit by this attack gain the scented trait for one hour, giving them disadvantage on stealth checks against creatures that can smell.

Reactions

Split: When a jelly that is Medium or larger is subjected to lightning or slashing damage, it splits into two new jellies if it has at least 10 hit points. Each new jelly has hit points equal to half the original jelly's, rounded down. New jellies are one size smaller than the original jelly.

Description

Found in orchards, barns, farms, and forests, apple jellies are vegetarian monsters that consume fruit to survive, and especially enjoy apples. The primary defense of the apple jelly is the similarity to its ochre cousin. Apple jellies camouflage their outsides brownish yellow, helping to hide their insides which are dyed bright green and red from their diet.

Apple jellies are generally non-violent, and spend most of their time slowly digesting fruit they've collected. If attacked, apple jellies mark their targets with their own deliciously scented ooze, making their enemy a tasty smelling target for other predators. If need be, apple jellies can even split off a portion of their own body as a decoy, to let the rest escape.

Their amorphous bodies can squeeze through small cracks and excel at climbing through the tangled branches of trees. Apple jellies are quite rare, as they are hunted for their delicious taste, and are an exquisite delicacy for the rich.
